The water main crew installed new water main along Henley Street from Washington Street to Harlem Avenue.
The required testing for the new water main on Henley Street between Lehigh Avenue and Harlem Avenue has been completed. The required approvals have been received so the new water main can be placed into service and homes connected to the new water main in this location.
Mass grading and excavation operations within the proposed detention pond south of Linneman Street and behind the Glenview Methodist Church are on-going. Excavation of the pond is nearly completed. The contractor is continuing to re-spread the existing topsoil along the pond bottom and along the berms. It is anticipated the landscaping of the pond will begin in the next 2-3 weeks.
On Monday and Tuesday, the contractor will be installing the new storm sewer and sanitary sewer in the intersection of Dewes Street and Elm Street. To facilitate construction in this area, the intersection will be closed to all traffic. We appreciate your patience and understanding as work continues in this area.
This week water service installation will begin on Henley Street between Lehigh Avenue and Harlem Avenue. New water services will be installed from the new water main to the existing b-box within the Village right-of-way. New services will not be installed all the way to your home. During water service installation, water to individual homes will be turned off while the transition is made. Typically the water is turned off for 1-hour. The contractor will knock on the door of each home prior to turning off the water. It is difficult to determine the exact timing of the water shut-off; therefore, 24-hour notice is not given. The contractor will work with you to determine the best time to shut-off the water to the greatest extent possible.
Thanks again for your patience and understanding as you deal with the construction in your neighborhood and disruptions to your water service.
